Your journey includes 32-week clinical training program in nursing that begins in your very first year! For optometry students, you can choose between a internship at two different locations or a internship either locally or overseas. These immersive experiences allow you to apply your skills in diverse healthcare settings, boosting your confidence and competence as a future healthcare professional.
Customize your nursing education to align with your passions by choosing from electives in Disease Management, Digital Health, or Evidence-Based Nursing. Optometry students will explore specialised courses designed to deepen their understanding of vision care and related fields, equipping them with the tools to tackle the pressing challenges of modern healthcare.
Your diploma opens doors to degrees at top universities, both locally and abroad. With 40% of our nursing graduates, likely the highest rate among similar diploma, gaining entry to Nursing, Medicine, and other Allied Health programs at NUS, SIT, and overseas. Optometry graduates have pursued degrees at prestigious international universities with advanced standing. Locally, NP’s Specialist Diploma in Community Optometry helps deepen expertise. NP x ZEISS Management Suite
We’ve successfully launched the NP X ZEISS Management Suite (NPZMS) and the MyoConsult at NPOC on 18 September 2024, marking a significant milestone in our partnership with ZEISS Vision Care Singapore.
This new suite enhances your learning and patient care, particularly in myopia management and age-related eye disease treatment. You will get hands-on experience with ZESS’s cutting-edge optometric instruments to monitor ocular health and track myopia progression. The new ZEISS MyoConsult platform will prepare you to co-manage myopia with hospital-based eyecare professionals, giving you a competitive edge for career advancement in the optometric sector.

Internship at Carl Zeiss Philippines

Hansel Kan (left) and Jevon Lee were the first Optometry students to complete a 6-month overseas internship at Carl Zeiss Philippines. During their internship, they shadowed and worked closely with local optometrists and ophthalmologists, gaining hands-on experience in managing patients with diverse eye conditions. Beyond the clinic, they also participated in community initiatives to support the less fortunate. This invaluable experience sharpened their skills and broadened their perspectives on global healthcare practices.

Overseas Merit Fellowship to Brisbane, Australia
Vania, Natasha, Alicia, and Jovial participated in the two-week Overseas Merit Fellowship (OMF), a unique, immersive experience that broadened their understanding of global sustainability and inclusivity. During the programme, they explored how technology
and innovation can drive social, economic, and environmental sustainability, with a strong emphasis on creating inclusive societies that support people with disabilities.
Through curated field trips, thought-provoking
lectures, and industry visits, they worked on multidisciplinary projects to address real-world challenges in sustainability and inclusion. This transformative experience pushed them to think critically about global issues, sharpening their
problem-solving skills and inspiring them to become compassionate, forward-thinking advocates for a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Gold Victory at HACK CARE: YOLO 2024 – Breaking Barriers!
Nursing students ( from left) , Tan Pui Lok, Natasha Tan and Miranda Tan clinched the top gold award at HACK CARE: YOLO 2024, organised by the Singapore Hospice Council. Their project, Legacy Odyssey, focuses on promoting open discussions about death and palliative care. By gamifying these often-stigmatised topics, they aim to break down barriers and create engaging learning experiences.
Bridging Nursing and Law
Hafashah’s journey is a true testament to constant self-improvement. From his early studies in Nursing at ITE and NP to pursuing degrees in both Nursing and Law, he has never stopped growing. Now in his third year of graduate-level law studies at SUSS, Hafashah is combining his healthcare expertise with legal knowledge to educate fellow nurses at NUH on the laws governing healthcare, all while serving as a nurse clinician in the intensive care unit.

The Doctor-Nurse
Kelvin Koh firmly believed that his nursing background would make him a better doctor. Armed with this motivation, Kelvin decided to pursue medicine. He subsequently graduated from the University of Western Australia with a medical degree and is currently working in Melbourne as a general practice registrar.

Late Bloomer Turned PSC Scholar
Despite his initial struggles, Fiqri persevered and scored well in the N-levels, clinching a spot in NP’s Nursing course. He had opportunities to interact with patients, work with experienced professionals, and undergo
training through clinical attachments. His efforts paid off as he was offered a PSC scholarship. He is currently pursuing a degree with a double major in Social Work and Public Health at NUS.

A Globetrotting NGO Volunteer
While working as an assistant manager at Essilor Amera’s Philanthropy division, Jovian Brandon volunteers with Non-Governmental Organisations like Essilor Vision Foundation and Sight to Sky. He has travelled as far as Nepal and India to provide eye care services to the underprivileged.
