About Dialogue in the Dark Singapore
Dialogue in the Dark Singapore (DiDsg) is a unique, experiential teaching and learning centre in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. It offers various transformational programmes to corporates and schools, enabling participants to develop skills ranging from empathy and inclusion, to communications, leadership and change management.
Take our Signature Tour in the Dark. Participants experience everyday situations in complete darkness, led by a vision-impaired facilitator. They learn to 'see' in a completely new way with their other senses, at the same time bonding and strengthening communications with one another. Then there’s Makan in the Dark and our Corporate Workshop in the Dark which push participants out of their comfort zones. Without visual cues, they are encouraged to embrace the dissonance, discover new ways of sense-making, and stretch their limits in areas such as communication, cooperation, trust and leadership.
We also offer programmes in the light, like Spotlight on the Blind and others, which provide insights into the world of the blind and which can cater to larger groups at one go.

Background
DiDsg is an exclusive collaboration between Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Dialogue Social Enterprise. Founded in Germany, Dialogue in the Dark is a worldwide enterprise that aims to promote social inclusion of the disabled and disadvantaged. Started in 2009, DIDsg is the first in the world to be located within an educational institution. DIDsg attracts over 20, 000 visitors annually. It employs and trains vision-impaired individual as guides, workshop trainers and motivational speakers.
DiDsg’s aim to raise awareness and facilitate inclusion of marginalized people in our community goes beyond just helping the blind. The darkness creates a level playing field, where we can no longer see differences of race, class, or religion; even organisational hierarchy gets diminished. This leads to insightful moments, deep reflections and rich conversations that contribute to participants’ growth and development.
