What Students/Alumni Say

Headshot of Zenia Tan

During my final year, I had the opportunity to work on a project on the effects of modulating the autophagy-lysosomal pathway in Alzheimer’s Disease. It allowed me to build on my skill sets and apply what I have learnt in class to real world problems. It was such an interesting experience! I will always be grateful for all the opportunities presented to me and the support my friends and NP have given me.

Headshot of Tan Bing Qian

With a well-structured curriculum and a myriad of learning opportunities, CBE has strengthened my interest and skill sets in the chemical engineering field, and also propelled me to broaden my learning horizons to areas such as innovation and financial investments.

Megan-Choo-Zhi-Yi

My time in NP allowed me to gain invaluable experiences and opportunities that fuelled my passion for environmental sustainability. The course opened up the doors for me to continue in a 1-year degree program at the University of Plymouth, where my understanding of sustainability and the circular economy grew significantly.  I am currently in the field of environment and sustainability, assisting companies in achieving their decarbonization goals.

Headshot of Siti Zaleha Abdullah

LDH has equipped me with the relevant skills and knowledge to kickstart my career in biodiversity conservation. My internship deepened my learning about Singapore’s diverse biodiversity, which has driven me to pursue a career as a flora specialist to advocate for habitat and plant conservation.

Adlin-Ilyana-Bte-Mohammad-Haizal

My time in NP was a memorable and fruitful one, thanks to the passionate lecturers and supportive friends. My internship has exposed me to the world of hospital pharmacy and prepared me for university life at NUS, where I am currently pursuing the Degree in Pharmacy (Hons). I aspire to become a pharmacist in the future, providing medication and healthcare support to the patients.

Headshot of Michelle Yeo

One of my most memorable experiences in NP was being given the privilege to intern at Raffles Hospital where I interacted with and learnt essential skills from experienced pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.

Industry Review

“We are excited to partner NP in offering their biomedical science students unique opportunities to participate in various research projects that have translational impact in SGH. These students have assimilated well to our research environment and have shown remarkable enthusiasm in their scholarly pursuit.  We have received numerous positive feedback from their supervisors, such as their inquisitive nature, relentless quest for knowledge and highly openness to feedback from their mentors. We look forward to continued partnership with NP to nurture the next generation of biomedical science graduates.”

Top-notch Facilities

Designed for students to learn the different aspects of “Farm to Fork” – referring to the various processes in the food chain from agricultural production to consumption – this facility boasts a suite of IoT-enabled smart urban farming technologies.

Here, students get to explore high tech aquaculture, functional food development, and food sanitation and safety under the guidance of our highly qualified faculty who have extensive experience in providing consultancy services to the local agritech and food manufacturing industries.

With increasing focus on the importance of developing sustainable solutions, the Centre for Environmental Technology is a platform for LSCT to partner companies to create sustainable platform technologies, processes and applications in air quality control and water treatment.

At the Centre of Applied Biosciences, our industrial biotechnology team conducts high-tech research and development work to create valuable biotech products such as industrial enzymes and microbes, biofuel, as well as pharmaceutical and cosmetic ingredients.

In partnership with hospital and universities, our biomedical science team develops cutting edge diagnostic tools for Parkinson’s disease and infectious diseases.

Impactful Internships

PAndG-Khayriya-Norhisham

My internship at P&G has expanded my understanding of the R&D industry. The diverse network of skilled professionals has inspired me to enhance my own expertise and contribute. This internship has been an excellent opportunity to put the skills and knowledge I acquired at NP into practice. I now have a deeper appreciation for how the concepts taught in our modules apply in the real world.

Headshot of Tan Wei Xi

During my internship, I got to apply fundamental process engineering concepts learned in school into large-scale process operations at Keppel’s Marina East Desalination plant. I went on to extend my learning beyond the classroom with an in-house research internship at the material science research lab. With its emphasis on individual excellence and group-based project management skills, CBE has equipped me with skills and knowledge that are both practical and flexible.

Xylem-Chow-Pei-Xuan

During my final year, I was given the opportunity to intern at Xylem Singapore as the product marketing intern for the SEA marketing team. As an EWT student, I navigated steep learning curves in short time frames in the area of marketing water-related equipment. The cross between engineering and business in my Polytechnic journey led to new discoveries in career aspirations and broadened my learning across different disciplines.

Koh_Jia_Le

LDH is a unique course due to its hybrid nature. My internship at Gardens By The Bay has allowed me to gain hands-on experience with a variety of responsibilities in both horticulture and landscape design. My role, which ranges from daily maintenance of plants to designing planting schemes for events, provides me with fulfillment in bringing Singapore's focus on greenery to fruition.

NUHS-Tew-Chun-Hui

My internship at NUHS Clementi Polyclinic was truly enriching. It offered me invaluable hands-on experience with pharmacy systems such as iPharm and EPIC, which are crucial for the smooth operations of the pharmacy. This experience not only boosted my confidence in my professional skills but also stood out as a highlight of my polytechnic studies.

Headshot of Vernice Vee

I had the opportunity to assist pharmacists to prepare and dispense medications for patients during my internship at the National University Hospital’s Pharmacy Department. Those hands-on experiences allowed me to gain a deeper appreciation of the inner workings of the pharmaceutical industry.
